I am a strong believer in the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child." I never really understood what this meant or why it would be true, until I had children of my own. There is no possible way for parents to teach children everything they need to know. There is no possible way for parents to be the only people that influence their children. There is no possible way for parents to be with their children constantly. Because of this, parents DO rely on the people in the village to help them out. In other words, as parents, we rely on other people to play important roles in our children's lives.
The village people I am specifically talking about today are Tate and Macie's teachers at church. Judy Scott was Tate's nursery teacher for 2 years and now has been Macie's nursery teacher for 2 years. She has given the kids a desire to learn about Jesus at a very young age and to truly love Jesus and want to be more like Him. She is a great example of Christ and the kids can feel how much she loves them when she talks to them. I am so grateful that she was their teacher during their very young, formative years. Neither one of my kids ever cried or threw a fit when it was time to leave me and go to nursery. That is because of Judy. I am very sad that we are moving and that Ty will not have the "Judy Nursery Experience".
Another village person I am very grateful for is Tate's primary teacher Sis. Webb. She has been Tate's teacher for the past 2 years. Being a primary teacher is sometimes rough. It's hard to know how much the kids are actually listening to and learning. But I know for a fact that Sis. Webb taught Tate so much. It's because of Sis. Webb that Tate randomly told me one Sunday afternoon, that Joseph Smith saw Jesus in the Spring time. It was because of Sis. Webb that Tate lovingly said the other day, "Macie we are not on this earth just to have fun, we are here to show Heavenly Father that we can be like Jesus." Almost every Sunday, Tate would have something to tell me that he learned from Sis. Webb. She truly made gospel learning fun for Tate and I will be forever grateful to her.
Last Sunday marked Macie's last week with Judy and Tate's last week with Sis. Webb. My kids were both sad to say goodbye to their teachers. My heart has been full of gratitude to both of these sweet ladies. They might not realize it, but they have made a difference in the lives of my children. Their dedication and perseverance has been admirable. As a mom, I just want to say thank you to these two village people for helping me raise my children.

When I saw the title of this post, I could have sworn you were going to talk about the "YMCA" song or something!! Haha. Just kidding. Nice post. I'm glad for people like Judy and Sister Webb too!
